Welcome to the website of the Deaf Sailing UK
The Deaf Sailing UK Club's website provides an overview of the
Club and sets out our full programme for the year.
Through an excellent partnership with the Rona Trust (London Sailing Project),
the Sussex Yacht Club and the RYA Sailability, the Club prides itself on its
offshore cruising, dinghy, training and social programme events.
Situated in historic Shoreham-by-Sea, the Sussex Yacht Club clubhouse boasts
fantastic views up and down the river with a good opening to a wide sheltered
harbour, and a good base of dinghy training in the Canal at a period Southwick
clubhouse, a few miles east of the main clubhouse.
From a premier marina a few miles north of the Hamble Village near Southampton,
the Club provides the opportunity for the offshore cruising aboard a 57'
yacht, and aboard one of its fleet in a Tall Ship event on some occasions.
The Rona Trust has itself been catering for deaf and hard-of-hearing people
since 1992 in its the cruising crossings in the English Channel and in the
Irish Sea, and still continue to run three more voyages in 2008.
The club also benefits from the good support and kind hospitality from the RYA
Sailability through Sussex Sailability and Royal Southern Yacht Club by joining
some of the social and yachting events to enjoy some day tastings at the sea and
the drinks at their clubhouse.
Please feel free to browse our website to find out more.

DSUK Fundraising Event at Sussex Yacht Club - October 2008
Deaf Sailing UK announces a fundraising dinner event for the competitive price of £20 for a three course meal,
at Sussex Yacht Club on 25th October 2008
to raise funds for the future DSUK team entry for Regional and National Sailing events.
This follows our successful race in Cowes Week for the third consecutive year, thanks to the highly
organised cooperation of Royal Southern Yacht Club, Island Sailing Club, Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club
and Sussex Yacht Club. We must also acknowledge a very generous donation from 67 yacht owners from
Eastbourne Yacht Club, Brighton Yacht Club, Sussex Yacht Club and Cherbourg Yacht Club, who took part
in Sussex Yacht Club's biggest social calendar - the Royal Escape Race 2008.
Our Guest speaker at the October event will be Oliver Westbury, who was the first deaf person to
have reached the true North Pole successfully in April this year. It is hoped that a new generation
of sailors will be encouraged in 2009.
